So I had a VGA adapter for my xbox but I was not happy with the contrast. The colors were always really washed out, but it is the only thing MS really offered at the time to connect to a PC monitor. However I manged to find a better way.

Get a DVI->HDMI adapter, use that to hook up 360 to your monitor. now take a privious adapter, IE your standard component cable or your old vga adapter. Near the base of the cable, peal off the plastic layer and the metal a layer so that the wires and PCB are exposed. You should now be able to plug both the adapter and the HDMI cable in at the same time. use the HDMI for video and either the stereo or optical connection for audio. its not pretty but it works much better than the standard vga cable.

I'll post pics if I can find my camera.

I've seen that done, I think on Llama360.com. You just have to be sure your monitor is HDCP compliant
