two small things i wanted to mention.
1) i picked up a new maxtor 60gig 7.2k for mp3/video storage, and i'm pleased to say that it seems to be running perfectly [nice speed, 8.5ms seek, etc]. installation with xp was a breeze.
2) this gave me the opportunity to take the used space on my ibm 60gxp dual-20 raid-0 setup from roughly 80% down to 35%. this difference that this created in my sandra scores was unbelievable. before i moved all those mp3s/vids from my raid setup over to the new maxtor storage drive, my scores were dancing around 10,000 (after defrag, etc). now that i freed up that space and defragged again, i'm pushing 34,000. i just couldn't believe that the space using was killing my raid setup that badly.
i'm definitely happy with the system now, and xp is running a boatload quicker now that the ibm's are running more up to speed :cool:
