I have a 4850x2 2gb and may get another 4850 1gb and trifire em or should i just run a 4870x2. im running on a x48 chipset(or will be) so bandwith wont be a problem. i mostly interested in how well this will game. i know drivers seem to suck for trifire and what not but the 4870x2 drivers arent much better. Only concern is the 4870x2 has gddr5 and the 4850 has one gddr3. so i guess i would just like to collect the communities thoughts on this. thanks in advance. (sorry for the rant)

All technical information aside, My vote goes for the 4870x2. Being the top performing ATI card, it's going to be pretty tough to beat. The only downside is the cost, whereas you already have a 4850x2 so getting a 4850 1gb, would be much more economical.
I wonder how the tri fire would scale though.

funny you mention that cause in my case it may actually be a bit more economical to get the 4870x2. but still wondering how well trifire would scale.

On tri fire you might be pushing that power supply a bit.
