I just saw this and had to post it. i think im gonna get this bad boy because my x2 is retarded loud at 80% fan speed for gaming lol. If it was posted before, sorry.

Has a graph of a 50c drop over stock cooling. :attn:

EDIT: It comes with everything you need. Thermal tape for ram, and heatsinks for the voltage regulator chips as well.

Change 2: From David Shing at Arctic Cooling about the release of the cooler.
"Thank you for contacting Arctic Cooling for your product needs. Kindly note 4870X2 cooler will be available in the US warehouse in the middle of April."

Maybe i'll be able to break the 840 barrier on mine. I havent wanted to push it to far with the stock fan being as loud as it is.65-70% is enough for me. Anything else is like a turbine under my desk lol.

I've been waiting for a cooler like this, is it difficult to get the stock cooler off? If someone gets one of these they have to post a thread on it with before and after as well as idle vs load temps.

The stock fan shroud and heatsink are not hard to remove at all. To me, it was about the same as doing my 8800GT. I replaced the tim on my x2 and it helped out in dropping the temps an avg of 3-5c while gaming. So i'll take that.

If no one has posted it by the time I get it once it's released, I will gladly post the before and after as well as some benching and gaming temps. Maybe some furmark for fun because it just melts the gpu.

when you took your stock x2 heatsink off did any of the thermal pads on the VRM/Memorry chips fall apart? on my reg 4870 the vrm pads got all ripped up when i pulled it apart and i had to wait a few days for a replacement.

kinda scared to do it again on the x2 since i dont have the parts here.

No they did not, I was also worried about this and took great care when separating the heatsink.

Just keep an eye out and it will go smooth.

Right when I'm considering moving to watercooling because of a lack of aftermarket coolers for the 4870X2, AC announces this. Thanks a bunch, guys, way to make my decision more complicated!

I am gonna go to a wc setup eventually, but this has definitely postponed it abit lol.

The only wonder I have is if I will be able to do tri-fire with a 4870 1g version with this beast on. I hope it doesn't take up 3 slots, it looks real close from the last pic I posted doesn't it?

If it's the same size as their 8800 Xtreme coolers, then it will take up 3 slots. My brother had 2 8800GTXs that were cooled by 2 8800 Xtreme coolers and since he had a tri-SLI board, he was able to run SLI with both cards running these coolers, but if the PCI-E slots are only 2 slots apart, then it likely will be too close.

My mobo's slots are indeed too close and it isn't a tri-sli/crossfire board so it looks like I am gonna have to go with watercooling when the need for trifire comes around.
