As show in my sig. I OC the celeron from 600 to 810 and the temp is about 40C. running Folding@home and Sandra CPU burnin. when I push it up to 900: 100X9.0 the temp is about 46C
I know i'll need a better HSF but wonder what is the average temp for celeron.
For AMD I know it about 30-40C.
Thank you.

those are decent temps.....though the Celeron will run cooler than the Duron if the same heatsink is used....

What is the Max for celeron? so I have a better idea.
Thank you funnyperson1
Yes get a better heatsink before going beyond 900mhz and 46 degrees in your case.
Your looking for a 40-45 full load temperature which your like in right now.
There is no average temperature..
There is no max every chip has its own thing or potential but those old Celeron's get to 1gig pretty easily with some case fans and cooling.

According to Intel's S-spec page, the thermal spec for the celeron 600 is 90° C, but like Yodums said, I wouldn't run it over about 45° C. You should be able to get a cheap Athlon cooler like a volcano 2 and it should be more than adequate to cool that celeron.
I have a Celly II 600 @ 900 with a Thermosonic ThermoEngine and stock fan with 2V pushed through it that only hits 32C under full SETI load all day long.
In my opinion, 46C for a Coppermine is too high. You should be able to get that thing down to the mid-30s with a better block and fan.
My Celly 566 started getting unstable in the mid-40's when I was overclocking it and running higher voltage. Those coppermines like 40 degrees or less for extreme overclocking. A non-overclocked CPU at default voltage can handle higher temps than an overclocked processor.
I tend to agree, 40's are too high for a stable Celly. With an Alpha PEP66 on my Celly 600 my load temps never rose above 32C. A good cooler with good thermal paste, as well as good case ventilation makes a huge difference.

I agree with the others..every o'ced coppermine I've seen would get shakey around 38c.
At 45c you might get it to run stable, but it won't last long.

I go along with the 40c mark. But, like was said, every box is different. I started to lose it at about 42-44c. That was when I was trying to hit 1gig and I got carried away and kicked it up to 2.2. Saw those temps and got the fear. After seeing that 2.0 post though I might get back to trying. Some things have changed. Crucial ram being the big one. I'm at 1.8 and stable. I know, should have taken it slow.
a celly 600 o/c'ed? no higher than 36C under load...then I'd start bitin' my nails...but that's just me...

the higher you overclock the cooler it needs to be to run stable not only that the cooler it is the higher you can go :)
Case in point ive pushed my CPU to the max and if it even gets to 32C under full load i can expect problems.

Outhouse, that never occured to me. Have to change my thinking and maybe work on cooling even more. My whole cooling setup is generic, tweaked but still generic. Thanks for the whack in the head.

i think you ahould get a better cpu fan and if you are using some generic thermal paste get some better paste like antec reference or something like that. you can get some antec reference at compusa. also you can try a better cpu fan,the volcano 7 came out i heardit was good and it is like $18 at pricewatch.com go to surch and type in volcano 7 and it will have all the volcano's and chose the volcano 7.i have a spezze cooler and it works good. I think that 46c is pretty hot

My temps are 30/38c running sandra burnin for 4-6 hours. Any other apps never take me over 27/34. CD burnin' will get me that. But I will admit I'm feemin' to get a decent cpu cool rig and start to up the core (I'm at 1.8 now). My control issues are screamin'. "You WILL go faster." We'll see. One thing. Anybody have an opinion on video heat. I leave a pci slot cover off on the hs side of my vid card (tnt2-baby card), I have a side fan cut in blowing in, but when I poke around in there it is a hotspot.

oh yah, if your not going to get a volcano 7 then you should get a copper heat sink with a fast fan. 46c man thats pretty hot!!
Actually if he were to lap the heatsink and add ASII then I'd bet it would drop the temperatures to maybe 38 full load. But something like a Volcano 6cu+, then he lapped it and finished it off with some ASII it would really bring those old Coppermines to like lower 30's on a full load.
