Has anyone done an LCD repair on an MSI Wind before? I kind of cracked it really really bad. I took it to school and BAM, whole left side has big cracks everywhere and some spots in the middle just all black. I mean I can sort of live with it, but not for long term. I just got the thing in December. I definetely learned a lesson in being careful.

I love this darn thing and dont want to shell out another $300-400+ for another netbook ( although the Samsung NC10 is tempting ). I use this thing for taking notes in class, writing reports/etc away from home, surfing internet at school, lots of things.

Anyone ever done an LCD repair on this thing, is it hard? I see the LCD on ebay for about $100-110 shipped, that is much better than the cost of a new netbook. I have Windows 7 on it and everything, I love this lil guy...

Have you looked into the manufacturer's warranty? If you've only had it since December I would think it would still be under warranty. I don't know about the LCD on that netbook, but I've taken apart a few laptops in the past and it is not hard to removed the LCD panel in most laptops. If you can find a guide to disassembling it online it's usually just a matter of unplugging the panel and swapping in a new one. I'm not sure with the netbooks though, self-service might not be quite as easy.

As for the Samsung NC10, I've played with a few of them here in Korea and they are pretty darn nice. They have awesome batter life, and the keyboard and touchpad are nicer than what most netbooks have in my opinion.

I honestly doubt MSI would cover broken glass for a warranty. I can get glass shipped ot me for $105 or so. That isnt the end of the world. I will probably add a 2nd stick of ram for 2gb total they are about $15 shipped, while I am in there.

Cool thanks! I saw a post on how to add a touch screen I guess it would be mostly the same instructions.

im pretty sure there is a thread on there that just talks about taking the unit appart. but yes, the touchscreen thread will also show you how to open it up.

im registered on that forum as well as the dell mini forum heh. although, i ended up buying a mini 12 over the msi.
still want an msi.. netbooks are kinda like gadgets.

good luck with your screen replacment. hopefully the cost isnt too high for you.

off topic, this makes me think microsoft is gonna enter the ipod and handheld gaming market with netbooks.
