ducted from outside 20F.....i just need a filter now.. my computer is next to a old chimney we used to use.. before we stopped using it we got it cleaned so its relatively clean.. i vancumed out the bottom part today and have it ducted from their using 4" dryer duct to a 80mm 44cfm at the back of my computer below the PS then on the other side of the 80mm more of the 4" ductaped to 3" almost air tight on 60mm fan on HS guess what full load right now 26C (78F) (prime95) outside temp 20F.. whatever that is in C... but pretty nice eh? too bad it won't last that long tho.. 1hr north of Harrisburg PA USA it will be warming up soon.. thats sweet i wonder what load is... and in a few minutes im gonna dismantle it and see how much dust ive accumulated... and then rig up some kind of filter on a 3" PVC pipe that im going to insert into the chimney with a grate on it so no birds come down it when im still using it in the spring...

That is cold make sure it doesn't get too cold over idle where condensation may occur.

If you leave it on 24/7 and the duct heading outside is just like freezing the computer maybe down to 5-10 degrees and then your going full load the next thing :/

what are you refering to yodums.. condensation or my chip popping?? im going to start folding again so it doesn't get cold and so i can burn in my chip cause i haven't even burned this baby in and i was doing 1650mhz w/out duct now 1725mhz w/duct... ive only had the chip in the socket for 24hrs now! well im off to fix my XP... some gay reason it won't load my profile and is giving me a temporary one to work with wtf?? im gonna try and restore it now... hmm thats kinda off topic...

nice work on the ducting setup - keep folding.

Just remember that the outside air is much cooler than the air inside your hot and it is the same as what happens on your windows in the winter. They have coldensation on them from the cold air outside meeting the warm window. The same might aplly here as well. Good work though! You might have a box built that takes the 4" in and gives you enough room to put a filter into the box (so it can be exchanged like in a central heat and AC system) which then transitions back to the pipe. You might be able to get a HVAC shop to do it for you. Just a thought. :)

well ive eliminated all other case fans except for an exhaust at the top.. so i have my duct... 92mm exhaust and PS fan and the rest of my case taped off with duct tape to ensure proper air flow... :-)

dang it something is wrong! tonite its 30F out and im hitting 40C full load... i was hitting 43C without the duct... wtf is wrong?? nothing has changed since the other day... my filter isn't clogged and i took it apart and put it back together.. didn't really look at heatsink tho maybe its got alot of dust on it.. cause my filter isn't that great....

Actually, the condensation on your windows in the winter is from the Warm air in your house meeting the Cold window. Warm air holds more moisture than cold air, thus when warm air is cooled, moisture is forced to condense out.

By ducting Cold air into a Warm computer, you have the opposite effect. Cold air is being warmed, allowing it to hold more moisture, and will therefore end up with a Lower relative humidity. You shouldn't have any risks of condensation (except possibly the outside of your case).

ya, there is probably a bunch of dust in your heatsink
