I have decided finally to spend the money and go with the i7 965 extreme chip and the Rampage II motherboard from Asus but I have another problem , Memory, I want to use the Kingston HyperX 2 gb (pc3 16000) in each of the 6 slots on the board for a total of 12 gb of ram but there is a disclaimer on the boards specs which states as follows......
**Due to Intel spec definition, DIMMs of DDR3-1333 or above are out of spec. Please refer to www.asus.com or user manual for the Memory QVL(Qualified Vendors List). Does this mean I can not use this memory???

Memory specs are as follows.

voltage 1.65
timing 8-8-8
cas latency 8
channel triple
pin config 240
module size 2 gb
ram type DDR3 PC 16000

any info on this will be appreciated. I have posted this on the Asus forum for Mobos but so far have not received an answer. Thanks for any help you guys may provide

Can't speak for the Kingstons , but here is 12gb of Gskill Pi Black ddr3-1600 running @ 914mhz with 1.65 volts on my Rampage Extreme II. I also have some Kingston Hyperx DDR3-2000 I will try out when I get my board back.

Is your Gskill memory 12800 i.e. G.SKILL PI Black 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) is so how much better would the Hyperx DDR3-2000 actually be? any? is it worth even going to fast of memory or am i wasting my money? for REF: I do intend to do some heavy O/C ing to this board and cpu so I thought maybe it would be easier on the memory to keep up if it where higher speed.

Thanks for any and all input

Dave

Yes that is the memory I have. I bought the Kingstons because Newegg had a pricing error on them. They sold out in hours:) I am hoping they will do 2133mhz and give me more options with memory straps when ocing. I sold one kit of Gskills and basically got the Kingstons for free.

They wil be 400+ when they come back in stock!

Also you might want to just get a 920 or a 940 and save yourself some dough.
