i was thinking that maybe you could change the memory chips for cards like if youhave crappy DDR memory maybe you could buy some nicve ram that is like pc3000 (so it runs faster for o'cing) and cut it off the ram stick and solder it to the board- i know it woudl be hard to physicl dothat but it ocul be done- is there any reaason why this souldnt work?

and could you add memory to you video card also like i have a 32mb rage furypro could i if i wanted to solder memory chpis ontothe iopposite side othe board onti the same pisns asn have it work?
just some thoghts:eh?: :D

That's an intriguing thought... anyone?

I believe someone has thought of that before. i think the vidcard is programmed to use that memory specifically, but i could be wrong

i have really no idea about that but the cost of making such mod woudl perhaps be higher than to get the same version of the video card with more memory. or, in the case of the less powerful accelerators or gpus the very limiting factor rarely is the amount of memory.
if this can be done i cant think of a case it will be that worth.

what if you flashed the vid card bios with the bios from the same chipset but more memory?

you would have to change to pcb and make sure you get chips that fit also, the fastest normal ddr ive seen is Kingmax 5ns, which puts it on par with a Gf2 Pro.....noth worth it imho.....
