Hi
Just had an interesting call from EMC - they said that the Fujitsu fibre discs in their CX700 array required a firmware upgrade. This means total downtime. If this upgrade is not carried out then we may get data corruption. Anyone else had one of these calls?

I think it depends on your SLA with EMC. Where I work we got the same call but they are going to come out with some equipment to our data center and upgrade them a few drives at a time as we can't have any downtime.

Thats interesting - they did not offer us that option. I'll see what our SAN engineer says

As a point of interest, if EMC are going to replace each disc, or a set of discs, then the time to rebuild the array after each new disc could mean more disruption then a total outage
