The much anticipated gigantic patch was just released, and to celebrate, Steam has dropped the price to $12 and is letting anyone play free all weekend. The game's a blast, and because of this patch release, there's been a huge resurgence in the UT3 community. Go grab it!

I love UT3. It's a staple at our lans. that and left 4 dead, plus whatever new title we're working on at the time.

How do you manage the admin features? Is there an admin panel like someone created for prior UT versions? We've been using a dedicated PC to host the games, but managing the features isn't as slick and easily customizable as it was with the web interface...

This is a very good deal at this price. I highly recommend it.

Yes, you'll get the patch. I know this because I did the same thing, and the patch downloaded for me last night.
The Steam servers are getting hammered, because I keep getting a message about the Steam servers being busy when I try to d/l UT.

I got the same thing last night. Just leave Steam open, and it'll eventually get going. It's a massive patch (over 1gb), and considering they're offering the entire game free this weekend (which is around 9gb), you can easily imagine why they're being hammered.

Steam update for Titan Pack was slow and kept resetting to 0%, so I downloaded it from the links in the official UT3 forum. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=598592
After that launch the game from Steam and it'll do another small update which went at a much faster DL speed, then it's done.
I dwonloaded it from Steam, but now I'm having trouble getting it to launch :(

Does the black edition just come with the Titan pack? I just bought the older version at Target for $5, will I get the Titan for free?
I believe so. You can add Unreal III to steam, and download the update from what I understand. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=818034
The free weekend is apparently a bust, as there a lot of threads in the steam forums about people not being able to even download it.
I'm pretty annoyed myself, since I was actually able to finish downloading it yet I can't get it to launch at all. I'm not giving steam $12 if I can't even try the game.
Was actually going to try this out as well.
Except no download - can't even start it due to "Steam servers too busy"
How did they manage this for TF2 free weekends perfectly fine? It's not as if TF2 isn't also a 4GB+ game.

$5 at Target for PC, $10 for 360.
wow $5. Is the game actually any good? Maybe steam should just give it away.

It's a very good game in my opinion, just didn't take off as well as most would have liked, I think WoW kind of hurt it along with other games unfortunately.

Plus you can use your hard copy in steam. I'd go the target route.

Ah lol I wondered why UT3 was showing up 'Free for X days' in my Steam games list. I was like 'w00t, free game but I have to install it within the next few days?' Didn't realize it was just a trial :p I think I'll kill the d/l now. If I do that how do I get rid of whatever has been dl so far so it doesn't hog space? nevermind.

Yep, it didn't launch very well and other games did hurt it. The 'consolification' hurt it most though, it wasn't initially designed with enough consideration for the PC version and most of the players were on consoles.
I really like UT3 but no one was playing it, even afrter only weeks after release. It's also a bit of a resource hog (at the time of release) and many needed an upgraded to run it at their lcd default resolution. A 4850 comparable or better should eat it up. My 3870 dogs a little on busy maps, about 30fps at 1440x900.
I'm wondering if I'll even bother with the update, UT3 is installed but long forgotten.

The update is "supposed" to have a lot of positive's, I plan to give it another go.
