it seens that once i switched to winXP, i have been having many problems. Does anyone know if there are conflict issues in winXP with nvidia drivers? The ones that came with XP seem to work fine. But once i try the official XP driverts on the nvidia website, i get a LOT of BSODS and my comp freezes a lot. system info is in the sig. can someone please help me? thanks.

Think you'll get more specific help in this category.

yes with the Dert 4 drivers especially the 2311 you will get infinite loop error ALOT, go to
www.ipkonfig.com for a fix
I use the nvidia 2k/xp drivers - they work fine
Read my post, as Microsoft has the 23.12's on their update site now and they seem to work great.

Which driver were you using? I think the 21.83's are the best for xp. I'm afraid to try anything else! :p

well ive tried using the reference drivers off the nvidia website im not sure what version they are exactly. I have also tried using the default drivers (12.41) or something i think. The default XP drivers pretty much suck as I cant run openGL on halflife and they are slow as a moose. that 23.81...Is that the one from the nvidia website?

I have the exact same problem and am trying to fix it as well. Don't bother going with any of the leaked drivers as they all will freeze while booting into windows. I hope the fix that OC Jason was talking about works, if he says where it is.

I rread something about infinite loop in www.viaarena.com and tryed a fix that there was there. no go....
I've been having the same problem since I installed the new det's from windows update after reformat/reinstall. Went to ipkonfig but can't seem to find what you're talking about. I think I'm going to try and see if I can find those 23s I had before...
EDIT: does anyone know where I can download the 21.83s?
EDIT EDIT: found it :) http://www.guru3d.com/files/

I am soo glad I read this since my new pc has XP and a nvidia card.
Guess I better do some more looking around before updating any drivers on anything.

I installed the 23.11 drivers from nvidia.com and they work fine. I dont overclock my video card, i have no need too. The problem i encountered was when i installed the 23.12 update from windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Very unstable for me. My computer would reboot abitrarily and give me a driver error that referenced my video drivers after i rebooted. (i ended up having to turn off error reporting because i don't want ms to know how often i f*ck things up. I might downgrade to 21.83 because those worked great for me in millenium edititon.
running the 27.23s fine now. Better performance as well.
Now running the 28.32 & via 4in1 4.38
All seems okay
