Am totally out of the loop with games ,period, but here i was at my favorite computer website when i noticed " Games " section , usually i go straight to hardware section , but have been thinking to going back to my gaming days .

without having go through 100's of reviews and wasted money and time i was hoping some of the more up to date members here can recommend some strategy games , i use to play generals , dune 2000 on the original PlayStation !!! w00t w00t ,,, and a lot of others i don't remember so thats what my taste is and the PC on which i will be playing is in the sig

Empire Total Earth just came out on tuesday. From what i've heard lots of people say this game is suppose to be great. i might pick it up to give it a try.

the only strategy games ive ever really cared about or played for any amount of time are warcraft 3 and starcraft, but they're both severely outdated. BUT SC2 is coming out soon in Q4 or 2010

halo wars is probably one of the only RTS games i would like to have or buy for pc, but i hear company of heros was pretty nice too

WOW , looked at empire total war screen shots and demo video and the graphics are amazing , will my PC be able to pull that ? especially when playing multilayer online ? my preferable resolution is 1920 x 1080

Also i use to play Warcraft , startcraft is basically the same , didnt like either as much as i liked generals

Dawn of War 2 was fun. No base building, but you do level and gear your characters. It's kind of like an action RTSRPG.

a 4870 and 3+gHz processor should run Empire: Total War maxed out at that resolution (with no AA).

I ran the demo at 1680x1050 on my 3.5gHz X3 720 and 4830 maxed settings including all shadow option (no AA, 16xAF) and it stayed solid at ~30fps which plays great.

Supreme Commander Gold Pack.

Makes the SC and C&C style of game seem like a bit of a joke and very out of date to be honest.

Tried 1900 x 1080 high settings . logged into the game graphics were beautiful , one cannon shot and it would freeze , slowly lowered settings quality , lowered resolution to 1440 x 900 still no game , my conclusion cpu was a major bottleneck , this game seems to be heavily relying on multy threading , one thing that tiped me of most was when u load the game there is a screen with i7 logo and it says " plays beautifully on i7 " or something of the sort , so am waiting on my i7 rig before i can play this which is like another 6 month

il try world in conflict demo now but am skeptical

Sins of a solar empire, fun game. No single player campaign but it does have missions and the ability to create your own "maps" and either compete against AI or humans.

what's up with all these games with no single player campaign. I remember rise of nations and age of empires 3 not having one either.

I just bought Empire Total War. 94% from PC GAMER. Gonna try it out tonight with a few friends.

I've been playing Age of Empires 3 for a while. Still a dang good game in my opinion. Pretty much any game from the Total War series is good. There's always C&C 3 too.
