i'm buying a new computer soon, and i'm going to overclock it. But i really hate the noise that the fans make. Does the Coolermaster make a lot more noise than the standard retail intel fans?
Because that's the only heatsink/fan i can get, and i don't want it to **** me off

Check the box of the hsf. Anything around 35-45 Decibles should be quite enough.

its 46db, do you think that its too high?
will it sound like an airplane?
Pretty loud if its a Delta which I assume. If your computer is upstairs and your downstairs you can hear abit of it as its very high pithced, but you can easily live through it. Go sidewindercomputers.com and go to the hearing room and find a delta which is 46dBA which should be the 60mm Delta 38cfm..

I have a CoolerMaster HHC-001 Heat Pipe... not sure of the dBa, but I know it sounds like a mini-hair dryer :)

i don't think i can live with a noise like that, may have to do with the retail fan and heatsink

ya might want to check out a Alpha pal 8045 HS with a sunon 80mm fan, much quieter and is hard to beat in cooling

I have a 54dBA fan, they aren't quiet, best run at less than full speed. :)
Well theres overclocking if you can't live with sound go water.

Or, you could use peltiers too. Besides the drain on the PSU, i hear there pretty good. Still have yet to try one. But im not one for prebuilt cooling, I like to design my own setups, just finished my first, used a piece of 3" duct running from my window to my case fan.
If you've got something innovative in cooling check out this post.
