It is a Tagan and was wondering if any one has any input on it ? I love the way it looks but how well will it perform? Is it better than the RocketFish I have ?

Tagan is topower, most topower units are mediocre, others are pretty good, very hit and miss.

The rocketfish is a huntkey, which are pretty much not great all round, but the 700W isn't a bad unit for a huntkey, and It isn't 700W more like an OK 500W.

You can get alot better for $150.

So what are you saying then ? I mean I know little about PSU's and I have to say the way this one looks is just so cool I have yet to see one like it . I would like to find one like it that would measure up but I fail to find them ever . Any way you can ?

Looks are deceiving.

The PSUs which are extravagant and very bright always tend to be lower end units for some reason..

www.jonnyguru.com read through some of their reviews, theres lots of good PSUs but im not sure about the more bright LEDs and flashy connector PSUs floating around.

It did receive decent reviews (except for no-name capacitors and a weak 12v under heavy load.

However the most of the forum posts about the BZ800 are similar to these.

I owned a tagan once, and I had that tagan blow up and kill about 2000 dollars worth of gear.

I've pretty much gone to only using Silverstone and Corsair power supplies these days. Took me awhile to move to Corsair even but I bought a 450W model and it kicked the heck out of anything lowish-end I've used previously so I sprang for a 750 when it went on sale at $99 locally.

The only Tagan I've seen first-hand was the 500W-ish model my friend used when he built an e6400/7800 system awhile back. The 12V rail was reading like 11.78V under load and he was forced to replace it when he bought an 8800GT and the power supply died a quiet death.

Better that the power supply died a quiet death, than a Powmax death. I personally have been using a lot of Antec PSU's. Very decent quality for the price. I am running a NeoHE 500w in my quad rig with no problems. As far as I can tell the better Antec units are Seasonic OEM, and from what I have read, the Corsair PSU's are of the same OEM.

11.78V is still fine, but yeah like deadly said it's better to just have it go out alone rather than take everything with it.

That's also what happened to my Tagan, it died alone and left all hardware intact. I've actually been pretty happy with mine, been using it for a little over 3 yrs minus the RMA time when it popped. Wasn't at all impressed with their customer service though and will never buy from them again. They did fix it bu too about 3 months from RMA request to receiving my repaired unit, which was sent back in the same shipping box I sent it in.
