Hi,

I work with 2 computers in a small appartment, where putting the computers in another room is not an option. I've manged to get them pretty quiet with Enermax Whispers, and I'm lucky that both are OCed at default voltage with default coolers (III-700@933, CelII-566@850). But the CPU and PSU fans are still noisy enough to be annoying.

How big would heatsinks have to be to dissipate the heat off these CPUs WITHOUT a fan? Humor me: I expect them to be quite big. I've seen humongous heatsinks on audio equipment; I imagine the enterprise should be at least possible. And similarly, how big would 450 watt switching PSU heatsinks have to be without fans?

I realize this may seem like a totally rediculous proposition to some of you, but considering people are recycling old fridges to cool their CPUs...;)

Thanks!

With todays CPU heat output I don't think there is a chance in hell to cool it without a fan while overclocked.

you could look up those Zalman heatsinks tho...with the fin design and barey audible fans or something.

You can cool a power supply without a fan fairly easily. Or get one with a quiet fan (the enermax are loud POS). For no fans you can either cut the top open and bolt in a large heatsink or use water, your call.
