PII350 w. Savage4 35mark2000 results...LOL

Well, I was going through my spare parts inventory at home, and realized I had enough parts for a PentiumII system. Heheh, put it all together and I've got:

a FIC LX motherboard
PentiumII 300 oc'd to 350
256mb pc133@pc100
4.3gb hdd (udma33 yet slooooooow)
Creative 52x CDrom
Savage4 32mb AGP
Windows 2000

I loaded everything up and got the latest Savage4 drivers...ran 3dmark2000 for kicks and LAUGHED...

My main system (listed in my sig) gets 5160 3dmarks in 2000.

This PII system got a whopping 153 marks!!!! 2d performance in windows isn't so bad, but throw something 3d at it and it can't handle it!!

Oh well, its no gaming rig, just a spare parts machine for either internet, music (with a soundcard atleast) or a little server to play with at home.

Just thought I'd share those new scores for you, I mean, 153, thats a record right?

my p2 350 with 256 pc100 ram and a voodoo 3 3500, got 4500 marks on 3dmark2000 and 2700 on 3dmark2001

I´ve got a PII 300 MHz, 192Mb SDRAM-100, 40Gb HDD@7200Rpm, Geforce 2 MX 100/200 32MB....and I´ve scored a whopping 750 on 3DMark2001.....:-) That has to be some kind of record too, don´t you think? I´m throwing this baby to my sister now, new P4 system on the way:-)

Yeah thats quite a good score...I must admit the speed in win2k isn't that bad since it has enough RAM, but like I said, anything 3d and the Savage4 runs and hides. Might pick up a SiS315 for it, since the TV out and 35bucks...hmmm, they don't have DVD decoding onboard do they? Like, hardware decoding? That might be fun to try...put it as a server/folding box/dvd player near the Tv....hmmm...

The Voodoo 3 series of cards always did seem to work great on lowly systems. Even today the V3's still work better in old machines then the pci vers of new cards do. My guess is the V3's don't use as much of the machines CPU as other cards.

agreed, I even had a Voodoo2 until just recently when I got this Gf2MX-200......and I have to tell you the difference is not that significant! Glide-based games such as DiabloII actually played better on the V2....... The main reason for my change was the lack of D3D support on WinXP for the V2. I guess my CPU is the bottleneck on this system.

Hey I used to have a Creative Labs Savage4...The wrost card I ever owned..But when it worked it worked well..I still have the card but I pulled the Heatsink off it...In 3dMark 2001 I think I got like 634 Marks...But that might of been 3d Mark 2000... I can't really remember..but I know my marks where not as low as yours lol

Hmmm, yeah, my parents have a PII350, and they got my brother a Voodoo3 over a year ago. The PII only had 64mb of RAM, but with the Voodoo3 it played UT really smooth. I think that was at 800x600. My bro is using the Voodoo3 in his 800mhz Duron machine, and he even plays MaxPayne pretty well. My parents machine is now lugging along nicely with an old SiS305 card with 16mb...does all they need.

I know my brother is saving up for a GF3 ti200, so I might donate 20 bucks to the cause and see if I can get his old V3...itd be nice to have that old pII running UT decently, even if its at 640x480...thats one extra machine to run UT on for parties.

My 64MB MX400 oc'ed to 200/200 only got 1398 Marks in 2001!!! On a 1.3Ghz CPU with 256MB of PC-133 Ram!!!

WAT A SLUGGISH RIG! All because of a rubbish board HA!
