Ive noticed a few things lately,
if i turn my pc on with the side off it crashes....
but with it on it runs fine.

I am certain that my cooling system is so effective that if the side is off it greats turbulance and destroys airflow.

I have an full tower enermax case ( like the antec 1030sxb) with to front intakes and 3 rear.
Sk6 and a 1.2 @ 1.533 145 10.5

would i be right?

Could be......but I wonder if it could be emi instead? The metal from the case shields emi from getting out or in. Maybe you could tos a piece of cardboard on istead of the side panel as an experiment just to see.
What are the case temps?
Real nice job on the cooling if it is!

Airflow can be critical. I have purposefully set up my system to have a great deal of negative case pressure. This is so the passive (no fan attatched) duct that feeds my cpu fan will draw in a lot of air. Once, with my case door on, I accidentally let the system run (during a reinstall of my OS no less) without the fan on my Volcano 6cu+ plugged in. After 50 minutes my system locked up. I hit the reset button and quickly went into the bios to check my temps, they were 59c. Recently while testing mosfet voltages (with the door off and therefore no negative pressure and no flow) I rebooted the system with the Volcano fan plug disconnected. After 5 minutes the temp was 63c!!!!!! Flow can make a HUGE difference.

Did you try the cardboard trick? I'm just curious- I think its grasping at straws, but I'm always looking for different possibilities everywhere!

I do think you may be right, but I wonder what the rest of the temps do as well, kind of a comparison thing: boot up with the panel on and wait for the temps to stabilize, check case, mobo and cpu temps, and then remove the side and see what they do before (and if) it crashes.

This would PROVE (instead of just thinking) that it was airflow that cause the crash: if mobo/cpu temps go up then theres your answer- for certain!

Another slight possibility is that there is a wire or cable that shifts with the side panel off- just another thought. (Why can't I just say YES, right?!?!):D

i gave it a shot...

it didnt make a dif this time so i guess i was wrong....

but i used news paper and taped it over insted of cardboard,
and there was enough back presure to pull the paper inward.

Well, that helps answer the question, anyway!

Still sound like a good job cooling the case, 21c.

With ambient around 19c my case is sitting at 24c, and I thought that was pretty good!
