Hi all

Just recently got my ASUS 9800gt, which I am happy about.

Just one question I got a S/PDIF cable with this card so I connect the cable two pin to the g/c and then I have a four pin which will fit to the connector on my board, however I have a pci sound blaster audigy se that has the four pin connector.

But the connector on the cable has one of the holes filled in, but the s/spdif on my sound card has four pins so wont fit, so do I just forget the cable or try and split the cable as the cable only actually needs two pins?

Or could I reverse the cable and put the two pin to the sound card and the four pin to the g/c? Sorry if this is confusing!

thanks

Been reading up on this but still not sure, does the s/pdif cable actually matter on this graphics cards (dont plan to hook up tv or anything).

1. I could pull my pci sound card and just use onboard sound, then the cable would fit the board.

2. Or just leave the cable as it has a four pin header but only actually uses two and one of the four is filled in so it wont plug to my sound card!

thanks

ok answering my own post as know one else has, sad I know but might help somebody else.

It appears the S/PDIF is only used on G/Cs to send sound and video through HDMI, so if you dont use tv then its not needed.
