So here is my problem.

I switched off my E-sata external HDD while my rig was running and after that my PC runs horribly slow at everything. Even the windows loading screen takes about one and a half minutes to load.

My rig is shown on my sig and the external hard drive is a seagate barracuda 7200.11 500Gb.

My guess is the computer is searching for the drive and it is timing out.

I had a similar issue with my WD esata drive. I eventually just switched over to USB due to the problem.

My guess is the computer is searching for the drive and it is timing out.Exactly what I was thinking. Did you "Safely remove" the hardware before disconnecting it?

My guess is that it is continually search for the drive, try plugging it back in to see if it starts working.

yup, that would most likely be it. unless you have your rig set up as ACPI or Raid, it likely wont play wel just being turned off.

I pluged and unpluged it many times but it keeps tearing my performance appart. I'm doing a really HUGEEEEE effort just to post in here.
I though of switching to usb but I paid that extra $ for the esata for it's superior speed compared to usb so I don't want to do that :(

do you have your SATA on your mobo set as ACPI or Raid, or is it in normal IDE mode if so that is why.

normal /. native IDE does not support hotplug.

suprised your rig doesnt just freeze completly with a drive being removed.

That wouldnt affect reboots after the drive was unplugged though..

what happens if you unplug the e-sata cable from the back of your computer and boot it up, is it still slow?

Well looks like something worse is going on now. If I set my mobo as RAID or AHCI I get a sweet BSOD.

Well looks like something worse is going on now. If I set my mobo as RAID or AHCI I get a sweet BSOD.It is because it is missing the drivers and can't access the main hard drive.

Yes you are right. So when I run the setup from my motherboard's disk it says installation failed. I tried to install the achi driver via the device manager but nothing either. I guess I have to find a damn way to install those bloody drivers...

if you want to enable AHCI, boot while in native IDE mode, log into windows. enable the AHCI in your registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\msahci
change the "start" key to 0 and reboot, change to AHCI mode in the bios. it'll install the drivers during boot-up.

I'm afraid I can't format my current windows installation.
