ok so ive read all the stickies and heres my question is since im running vista 64 bit how can i optimize my core i7 920 in order to get better production without having to deal with the issues stated for vista 64. all advice much appreciated thanks!

I think you have to have turbo on to be able to use all 8 cores.

I'm not 100% sure.

yes i am folding for team 32 have my first 2 wu's going now and i have turbo on and thanks for the input

I think you can run 4 smp's in vm's with the 8 cores of that cpu.

Also if you have a nice nvidia card you can run the gpu2 client. (what is your system spec's)

as I said tho not 100% sure.

it may take some time getting use to running them but once you are able to figure out how to set up a vm it is painless.

you should be able to fold on the ati card I think. you just need to have the 9.2 drivers I think and also should be able to get about 3+k ppd out of that card

I'm not sure about VMWARE player,

I'm running VMWARE Server 2.0 (anything below 2.0 does not work on 64 bit) You will need 4 Virtual machines each running linux and 1 SMP client to get the max out of your CPU. However with the 4870, you may want to only run 3 Virtual machines (or run a single threaded client on the 4th) since ATI Cards generally consume more CPU than nvidia Cards, It may take a little experimentation to find the optimal performance.

got one smp running and a gpu on my main rig and one smp on my laptop working on wu 7,8,9 as we speak gpu is amazing can do atleast 4 times more ppd than smp giving me one more reason to get some crossfire going!

Awesome!!! :beer: Sounds like you've got everything playing nicely. :)

A word to the wise about Crossfire or SLI... the FAH clients cannot operate on both GPUs when they are teamed in Crossfire or SLI. To fold on both GPUs you have to disable multi-gpu rendering.

Now this doesn't mean you can never use the Crossfire or SLI capability for gaming... you'll just have to enable it before hand. But you'll have to disable it again before running FAH if you want to Fold on both GPUs again. ;)
