Ok is it possible to do like a direct die cooling put put a cold plate and pelt in there then epoxy it down to the CPU. That way I don't run the risk of breaking the tabs again. Any ideas would be nice.

It would look like this

It's possible but not recommended. You'll need decent clamping pressure for TECs, it's very hard to achieve this without a real block. Also there is the issue of how the TEC ceramic deals with hot/cold cycling in a wet environment, it may well crack and them you're going to have a fire.

Ok thanks for the input. I think I'll just do a plain direct die cooler.

I have a 2cool water block, but I'm tired of breaking tabs. Anyways direct die cooling is better.
get a hold down that uses the 4 holes around the socket, or a waterblock that does (maze 2). although I can see you not wanting to get a whole new waterblock. But I would just look for a hold down.

Well I would but this is not going on my board. It`s going on a AOpen AX34 Pro II so it don't have the holes. I have a six tab hold down from DTek and I also have the middle tab hold down that come with the set-up. With both I have broking tabs.

You can always make new "legs" for your hold down out of paper clips. That way you can bend them to fit over the outside tabs. I'm not sure what kind of hold down you got now. But this is what I did with mine form 2cool computers. It works out well. Puting the pressure on two tabs is much better then one. It spreads the weight out more evenly between the two Thus...you can clamp down harder.

The one I have from DTek grabs on to all them.
