OMG, this hsf combo is being such a loser. I harsh lapped it and crap, and it still rockets to 40C idle. I'm totally stuck here. I dont want to throw away my $30 CDN investment. With my old HSF which was a Chrome Orb, I idle at 24C. This totally makes me mad, since my ugly Chrome Orb which costed me 10 bucks is doing better than my WBK and my Delta.

Thanks in advance to all that reply =P

=( =( =(

I have a CoolerMaster HHC-001 Heat Pipe... I had the problem of it skyrocketing to 40c idle (with XP 1800+ oc'd to 1.72GHz) then I realized what caused it.

1. I put too much ASII on it.

2. The HSF wasn't mounted right.

I cleaned it off along with the processor, put the right amount of ASII (ArcticSilver 2) on it and now she's at 1.73GHz and 38c full load while folding.

Check it out, could be something that simple :)

Hope this helps, good luck!

Have you tried configuring the fan to blow or suck to see which one works best?

Well, I tried all your suggestions and no it still doesnt work good =P But I do have one question, how do I know if the HSF was mounted correctly? I'm seriously getting fed up with this HSF. I got this yesterday, and I'm already tempted to throw it out the window :eh?:

whats your trick... I run a 1.33 tbird @ 1.5G 300FSB... I get 40C flat - in both Idle and underload .... it doesnt fluctuate much at all...

my case temps is 31C on MBM5 CPU is 40C/80F on MBM5 and the room temps is prolly around 78F-80F

I should be colder than 40C if your getting that on 1.7G

how do you mount the heat sink wrong?
the clip is ''fixed'' it doesn't slide or move....
I am gonna lap it once I mod my case and have to take things apart..... adding a 120MM blow hole and modding a playstation into the computer case....

no stupidity here - just 'less informed'' and by reading this thread looks like we corrected that problem!
Welcome to the forum .... sorry I didn't help on this one but hopefully in the future.
