Is using too much water wetter more detrimental to the cooling system?
heh, following you....
anyway, I think if you used WAY too much water wetter, it could start to eat away any plastic in your setup. I dont know if that includes silicone, nylon, etc. But if you just use 1 oz per quart, youll be fine.
I can't remember where i saw this but somebody did some tests showing what happens if you put too little, too much, and the recommended amount of waterwetter in. It came out like you would think, too much or too little waterwetter increased temps by a degree or two, while as the recommended amount lowered it by one or two. So yes, measure according to the instructions on the bottle (i can't find mine atm, ok well i am too lazy to look) or you can actually hurt your temps instead of improve it.

Hello,
I can tell you from personal experience that too much water wetter will cause cracks in a plastic reservoir. This and the fact that I really did not see a change in temps would make me tell you to stay away from it.
Water Wetter is a great product for its application ( race cars ) . I don't want anyone to think I am putting the knock on it. I am not !

Here is a formula that works for me. 5% water wetter, 15% antifreeze, and 80% distilled water. I have been using this formula for over a year in a system that has both alluminum and copper in it and there is not even the slightest amount of corrosion. If your cooling system is all of one type of metel you can skip the antifreeze.

on the watter wetter bottle it reconmends 2oz per quart, i would stick to that

Antifreeze is not needed if you have water wetter even with dissimilar metals - water wetter contains anti-corrosives, all you are doing with 15% antifreeze and the 5% water wetter is hurting your temps. You should use the water wetter in plain distilled or deionised water as specified on the bottle for best performance. I have deionised with water wetter and have so far had no corrosion and no problems with plastic cracking.
