anyone kno the limits on heat for the amd cpu before it starts frying?
I believe it's 50-60c or so I heard...
amd's specs say 90C for athlons i think but thats just the point that u would get physical damage. it would become unstable way before u got that hot
btw i think this should be in the cooling section

Hmm... I believe it's more like 80-90c. Some people's XP's are running in the 50's with load normally. Mine is at 42c with a good load overclocked from 1.4 to 1.58 (with Alpha 8045 HSF). I was running about 38-39c at 1.4. I hope these processors don't run within 10 degrees of frying at default speeds. God forbid room temperature rose 3-4 degrees c, you'd be pretty close to a meltdown.
EDIT - Guess we were posting at the same time bobt17.

My TB runs at 47c all day and night.

We generaly like to keep them cooler than most users. I suggest you keep them below 50°C. Sure the CPU can take more heat. Sure they will not meltdown all of a sudden. The question is do you want to stay on the outer edge of the envelope or do you want to enjoy your time with the puter?
It's 95°C if I'm not mistaken.
