Can I assume that having mixed brands of ram can be Bad for a overclock??

My situation:
4 x 512 (DDR1)
2 of them are Kingston PC 3200 value ram
the other 2 are genaric PC 3200 (AVA on chip's)
the mother board is a Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro SLI (need to update my Sig...)

Would I be better off Just Using the Kingston ram untill I can get my hands on two decent 1gb sticks (and at this point would I need to restart the whole OC proccess?)

It could possibly be a problematic situation if the two different kinds of ram are rated for different voltages and timings. I've never had a problem with it because I've never used different kinds of ram in a build :-/.

im pretty sure ocing random generic ram is not that good

I would find a happy point and keep the OC as high as possible until I could save enough fo a new system. The DDR2 socket 775 stuff is dropping in price rapidly.

Things probably won't work out too well for you OC. But if you have the sticks already might as well test it out and see what the ram can do.

18 is #1, socket 775 is dying :(

lol! are you kidding? i7 is better but it's not that much better. If 775 is priced right I can see it sticking around for a few years.

You should be fine, the ram runs at the same voltage, and the system will run at the slower of the two timings.

Well I Finely have some success!

I dropped the HT to 2.5
Set the CAS latency to 3
and cpu frequency at 245
For a 2.2GHz :attn:

i wonder if 1T would work on that value/generic ram
