View Full Version : if i step up the v-core to 1.80v will it die?

hey guys i got my p3 to run faster from 920 to 952 but i had to bump up the v-cove from 1.70 to 1.75, but i tryed to run it at 960 but it failed.
So if i go 1.80v will it run at 960mhz or faster
asus tusl2-c 815ep
p3 800e socket 370
asus geforce2 ti 32mb DDR
two sticks 256 133 cas 2
3 case fans
dragon orb 7000rpm cpu fan
20g ata 100 7200rpm
sound blaster live
300w power supply

is the force strong with this system

As long as the cooling seems to be working and temps are lower than 50C under full load I say you're safe.

Should be OK as long as it runs cool. I've run my 800EB at 1.8 before but I feel kindof wary about doing so longterm; it runs @ 1.75 right now.

Cooling is the secret as mentioned by the others. Pinky says to keep it below 50 degrees. Yes, that will prevent it from frying, but if you want stability and long life, I recommend CPU load temps of closer to 40 degrees for overclocking and running high voltages. The cooler the better when raising FSB and voltage.
