View Full Version : OC your cd burner
I just "overclocked" my cd burner!
By flashing the firmware on certain drives, you can increase the burn speed. I found out how and got the files and such here (http://www.cdrinfo.com/).
Now my 8x burns @ 10x!! It actually worked and cut about 2mins off my burn time. phatty.

well it depends on your burner.. 90% of burners wont do this..
and theres a high chance ull fry/kill your cdrw if you try this, so be careful..
Kentucky Fried Bird would you like to help me starta a CD burner overclocking database. Take a look here (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59505)
I would like to know more like what the article's called and what burner u have.
I have a hp Cd-Writer Plus 9110 (the 9100 series is the same, its only the bundled software that is different) and now it *is* a 9300. All I had to do was flash the ROM/firmware.
I have successfully burned at 10x using the new hp RecordNow software that I got from their website.
Bender, that sounds cool, but hasn't cdrinfo got it covered? Maybe I am lazy, (I am) but what could we do that they haven't? Let me know what you're thinking via PM and I will help if the Mods/Editors/Webmasters at OC.com are down with it.:)

anyone done it with a plextor yet?
It depends an what model plextor. I have even seen people turn there drives into plextor drives since the mechanis is the same. As for cdrinfo.com I don't think they really have all that much info on the subject. They do however have a great rom locator.
Hey Kentucky fried bird
i went to that site looking for that firmware update. Did you download the update from hp site?
Thanks
