Just a quick question from a noob. I just got myself a new configuration which you can see in my sig.....now my question.

1. Will my old Chieftec 450 W be enough to run all this?

2. What happens if the PSU is not enough, can my mobo or something else get damaged or will the comp simply shut down.

The Chieftec 450 will probably work, But is borderline especially being old.

If your lucky the computer will just not run. If your very unlucky the PSU could blow and cause damage to other components.

Usaly the new PSU ATX 2.0+ will just shut down or won't start.

In the old days when they started to reviewing PSU online there were allot of bad units out there unregulated causing failures.

You are going to be cutting it pretty close with that 9800 gtx. You only have 18amps on your 12v rails, which is just barely enough to power your gfx card. I'd say your next purchase should be a good psu.

If your puter shuts off randomly youll know its the power supply.

OK thank you guys.

I have another question. Can my cr@p PSU be responsible for high temp. of my CPU? I mean my idle temps. are about 37-40 C.

Can there be a connection between my higher temps and cr@py PSU?

That would depend if it's putting a lot of extra heat into your case, also if it's providing too much voltage then also yes. But I would think that a fairly sophisticated motherboard would filter that power down to the required amount.

Also, crap isn't censored and bypassing the censor with special characters is against the rules. Just an fyi (in other words dont do it with real bad words).
