I am looking for a good ITX motherboard that can handle HD playback and maybe in the future even blu-ray. The cheaper the better!

Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

you dont have many choices on the intel side and they are not cheap....

or get the G45 intel board from the openbox for $90

G45 comes with the X4500HD, which does basic VC1/H264 decoding. the only NV based board i would go with for VC1/H264 for onboard would be the 9000 line. either that or you need to look at a AMD setup with a 3200 onboard video... after that i would highly suggest a MATX setup with a LP card instead. the matx lga775 boards are a bit cheaper and there is the DFI P35-JR for $150 about the same as the intel board mitx board. i personally would get a matx G43 based board and add in either a 9400GT or ATI 4650.

I know they are pricey but I am dropping this into a NES shell, and I already have a chip and specifici socket 775 cooler I want to use, thanks for the links!

I don't understand why the Q45 is more expensive then the G45 when I don't think the Q45 doesn't support accelerated hd playback?

right q45 doesnt but i saw the only intel q45 and its only $5 cheaper then the first g45 i linked to. i forget the differences but non of the q45 will come with the X4500HD, its only just the 4500. which is lower clocked then the x4500 found on the G43 boards... i would at this point then bite the bullet and get the zotac board....

well for h264/vc1 comparing G45 to the NV board... the NV board will have lower cpu usage then intels as well as better IQ for video playback.. i would get the nv board...

right but they zotac board they tested isnt the same one i linked too. still up to you but 2watts difference isnt huge...

I am not in a hurry to do this build so I'll check daily to see if I can find a deal on the Zotac board, it was released the 2nd week of february so it is quite new and there a few problems I was reading about it, problems with s3 resume and the fan control. Other than that it is supposed to be solid.

Thanks for helping me influence my decision!

I'm actually converting a NES to a PC. I'm going to gut it and place in a mini ITX board paired with an all in on water cooling loop(It is just too compact of a fit to do anything else) that I bought of the forums today.

Here is an image of it:
