Sup guys. i dont think my overclock on my evga 780i -a1 of 3.6 ghz on my q9450 with 1,38v is the best i can get. i struggle to get 3.8ghz with any kind of voltage, i've only pushed it up to 1.450, i dont want to go any higher. My system freezes periodically out of no where and i think its the motherboard causing it. my system boots and runs fine but i always have code FF showing on the digital display of my mobo, isnt that a bad bios code? is there a tweek guide to overclocking my 780i that tells me what i should enable and disable in the bios? thanks :bang head

I've listed all of your BIOS options in the template I posted. Write down all of your current BIOS settings, replacing the template settings I posted above with your own, then post your template in this thread (enclosed by CODE tags to make it easier to read).

ok i must not be getting this right..sorry, but how did you make your template? i have no clue how to make a template like that, i'd like to know how. Is there anyway to check all my bios settings within windows rather then going to the bios itself at bootup?

Give these settings a try for 455MHz x 8...

Code:
FSB - Memory Clock Mode - Linked
x FSB - Memory Ratio - Sync Mode
FSB (QDR), MHz - 1820
MEM (DDR), MHz - 910

Memory - 2.0v
nForce SPP - 1.45v
nForce MCP - 1.60v

GTLVREF Lane 0 - +30mv
GTLVREF Lane 1 - +30mv
GTLVREF Lane 2 - +30mv
GTLVREF Lane 3 - +30mv

And a FF post code means a normal boot.

Yes, then run Prime and make a note of which core(s) if any fails. You can then adjust the GTL vREFs that correspond to the failed core(s) accordingly. You might also want to try adding +30mv to only cores 1 & 3...

Code:
GTLVREF Lane 0 - +00mv
GTLVREF Lane 1 - +30mv
GTLVREF Lane 2 - +00mv
GTLVREF Lane 3 - +30mv

see thats the thing...prime95 is stable right now...it never fails with my settings as is...its just sometimes my comp will just freeze...and its usually, usually when playing media, like movies and what not. and its just out of the blue...im thinkin maybe the mobo is getting too hot or somethin..maybe the mobo isnt able to run 1800mhz fsb very easy....i know the cpu is stable...i got this even with cpu @ 3ghz with 1800fsb...even kept the voltage @ 1.38....im leaning toward the mobo or power supply...or a setting

but the core that is keeping me from getting 3.6 @ 1.32v is core 0....this is kind of off topic, but to get core 0 (which is the 1st of the 4 cores) stable @ 1.32v i can raise the GTL for that core?
