View Full Version : ATI overdrive won't take any overclock settings for my card

I got this card today (Powercolor Radeon AX4850 512MB) to replace the onboard video from my motherboard (HD3200). The card is working great, but it would not accept any overclock settings in the ATI overdrive tab of CCC.

When I adjust the sliders and hit apply, the sliders automatically reset to their default settings. I have tried using the drivers from both ati.com and powercolor.com. I also tried disabling the onboard video in the bios and its still the same.

Tried auto-tune and the core clock/memory clock would always stay at 635/993. It also never completes the auto-tune configuration.

Test custom clocks results in a test that lasts forever without completing (I waited ~1hour).

I'm running windows vista 64bit ultimate

What could be the problem?

Edit: I just did a fresh instal of vista and the it didn't help..

Did you unlock Overdrive?

Yes I unlocked overdrive. All of the options are grayed out if I didn't.

Can you overclock the card using another app? Rivatuner for example. Does the card game OK, i.e. are you seeing any other syptoms?

I tried using rivatuner in windows xp and it worked with the 9.2 catalyst drivers.

I couldn't get rivatuner to work properly in windows vista.

It games alright and I am not having any other problems with it.

If it runs fine then really there isn't much point in overclocking your GFX card unless your benchmarking. You'll just end up with a hot card and like 20 more fps
