Q9550 on asus commando

I would like to know if one Q9550 will work on a asus commando

and if I can expect a comfortable Overclock ?

Yes it will. If you ever need to find out if a certain CPU will work w/ a particular Asus MB, they post CPU Support pages listing all compatible CPUs for their boards...

... and as far as a max. overclock on the Q9550, figure on average between 3.6 - 3.8GHz w/ a good possibility of hitting 3.9 - 4.0GHz depending on the stepping (C1 or E0) and the VID.

You'll want the best cooler you can afford with that quad, something along the lines of a Prolimatech Megahalems or Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme. The Xigmatek Dark Knight S1283V is considered a mid-range cooler, although better than the OCZ Gladiator Max, Noctua NH-U12P, or OCZ Vendetta 2.
