Yes I know it's been asked before but it only got 1 reply and my question is a little different. ;)

I am looking at this mobo and have noticed lots of RAM issues being reported. I would like to get 2x2GB of 1066 (800 prob ok, will depend on OC) but just for s**ts and giggles I may fill the other 2 slots down the road.

I was looking at Geil, G.Skill, Corsair XMS2 and Mushkin but I'm open to whatever works with stability as the #1 goal. OC would be mild at best on the RAM. If I get the 1066 I doubt I'd be OC'ing them at all.

It has issues with getting the ran volts right. I got the OCZ reaper 1066 and they work great but I think it took two days of testing to get the voltage right in the bios.

I just got a reply back from Gigabyte regarding this and it's not very inspiring. They recommended Kingston 800MHz CL6 or 1066MHz CL7. Obviously I'm not going for that junk and due to a bad experience with HyperX reliability in the past, I won't even look at their performance stuff.

I guess I'll just pick one and throw caution to the wind. There were ridiculous numbers of problems with compatibility on my old Abit board and my Crucial Ballistix worked fine with no tinkering. Sometimes I just worry too much. :p

I've have an e8400 @ 3.4GHz/1.136vcore with 2x1GB HyperX 1066MHz running @ 800MHz for a 1:1 ratio, timings 4-4-4-10 2.2v. This stuff sitting on a GA-EP-UD3R. I'm not big into overclocking, I like stability. I find this works just great. however, I may buy diff memory modules just to see what will work well @ 7x500. Timings on auto are way loose for my taste with the HyperX, which does not want to tighten up much on a 500FSB. So that's were the HyperX might not be so great.

Hope that helps!

They also have a Gskill 8800(1100mhz) set for around $70 .

I had some bad experience with HyperX in the past. 3 consecutive sets had at least 1 faulty stick within a few weeks. Have you had yours long? Maybe they've improved and I'm not giving them a fair shake.

I have been eyeing those G.Skill along with Corsair. G.Skill looks like the only brand that runs at the actual 1.8V specs which makes it very attractive to me. If I clock my CPU to 3.8GHz I can run the 800MHz at 1:1 and I'd be more than happy.

The RAM is the only thing I didn't order yet due to paranoia about compatibility. :x

My 2x2gb Gskill PQ DDR2-800 5-5-5-15 1.8v kit is running nice on here, I haven't tried running it past the current clock I am running on this board but it was memtest stable at DDR2 964 5-5-5-15 2T at 2.0v on my IP35 Pro.

I can try my 2x1gb DDR2 1066 Ballistix Tracers (dual sided D9s) and my 2x1gb of OCz Platinum Rev 2 DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 2v if anybody requests.

I just got this board and have tried two types of memory - G.Skill F2-8500CL5D and Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2. I was able to get the G.Skill to run at 1099 which isn't bad but I was unable to get it to run at 1131 where the Kingston is running. The G.Skill set was 2 x 2M and the Kingston 4 x 1G so that may be a factor as well.
