Hi Everyone,
I need some help using fraps with my 4870x2. First let me tell you what I want to do and why. I'll be recording boss kills in WoW for my guild in the upcoming weeks and I'll need to use fraps (or something better?) to do this, obviously. I'm confused as to which settings are best suited for uploading something like this to youtube and having it look *great*.

The 4870X2 should handle recording at the highest settings fine, right? What format is best to upload a file to youtube and have it be clear? Are there certain drivers I should use to achieve optimal recording quality?

Here are 2 recordings I already did, but I've watched other WoW recordings using Fraps that are much clearer and smoother.

Thanks for all the help!

30fps is good to go for me anyway. On mine it kinda stutters when I start recording, but then smooths out almost instantly. The playback is smooth and stutter free.

If your hard drive can handle it I record at 60fps, as then you get solid gameplay and smooth. But when you compress it the playback is usally at 20-30fps.

I tried that and my hdd is the weakest link in my system, gotta get some raptors in raid soon as they are in a combo deal on the egg for like $150 something for 2.

Yeah I think I can record in FRAPS at around 120fps fine, but then the file size is rediculous.

So if I have a raptor or 2 in raid, but not storing my OS, Computer games, ect. and my current HDD holding all that stuff and I record to a folder in the Raptor drives directory, I don't need to do anything else, right? As in, I don't need to install WoW on the Raptors.

To be honest may as well put your OS on the raptors too, would make it feel faster!
But yeah that will be fine, I think FRAPS will just write straight to the raid array. I use my raptors for my OS, and 280Gb of usable space is enough for all my games, programmes etc with 100Gb+ free for FRAPS recordings before compression. (Recording at 1920x1200 takes up a load of space!)
