Do these three games 'coddle' idiots?
It is to say, I understand the basic principles of flight- but are these gentle and easy going when it comes to explaining manifold pressure and throttles and everything?
Are they easy to learn? Are any easier than others? Is the learning curve gentle?

GEE WIZZ Wally wait till you get to prop pitch and structural G-limits.
In FSX try the learning center, you have lessons there from starting the engine to VOR and ILS approach great place to start. Also fly the mission
The planes in FSX are fairly easy to fly on full realism. If you want something really hard try IL-2.

Really? The Sturmovik game from a few years ago?
I was looking more to simulate jet flight with convos with ATC and stuff than shoot at germans...
I'm not a good fake pilot. I have a really hard time understanding trim, pitch, manifold pressure, RPM vs throttle...
If it's jet engined I just 'drop it'... Though I did once make a perfect landing- albeit in zero wind- but on high realism, in a Learjet 35 in FS5 in DOS. I can't imagine that one having been terribly realistic though, given I was running on a 75Mhz machine pre 3d acceleration with likely 2/3 of those cycles going to graphics
Ok so I should get something a bit more suited to a ****** like myself..
Does FS2004 also have considerations for retards and a learning center? Is it as ****** friendly as FSX?
Is XPLANE ****** friendly?
When landing the jets I think it helps to use the chase cam. Make sure you have your flaps lowered(but not all the way) and use the checklist to look at the landing speed for that plane. When you touch the ground use the auto brakes and press f2 for the reverse thrust. The hardest part about landing for me is finding the airport :o :o. By the time I see the landing strip I'm coming in at a bad angle.

You're talking to a guy who flew an A320 backwards ass first into the ocean. No worries. You're a good pilot.
Its supposed to be impossible to do that in an A320 by the way.
But I found a way.

I just landed the jet successfully in the FSX demo :). I came in perfect but then I screwed up my minimums and approach angle and ended up having to float at 200 for about 10 seconds... but i landed.

I used the 737 for most of my landing, but the principle should be the same. :)
