i remove 9 capacitors from my GeForce 2 how big of a diffrence did u get? i played a DVD and it look a tab better. is that all i had to do?

AMD: Yes, just remove those 9 caps to remove the low-pass filter which may or may not (depending on the manufacturer) help improve the image quality. Very simple, huh?

I didn't notice much of a difference, although some colors are brighter and at high resolutions the image (especially text) is sharper. I think Leadtek uses nvidia spec'd caps for their filters, and therefore, this mod doesn't have much to improve upon image quality-wise.

Slim Lim originally posted it and brought it to my attention, and I tried it, then spread the word. The mod is supposed to work for all nvidia cards from geforce on up. Low quality capacitors which are used by some manufacturers to filter out the high frequency part of the signal going to the monitor may actually block a part of the signal in lower frequency ranges which is used by the monitor to render the graphics data. This causes lower image quality, but by removing some or all of these caps, the image quality may be restored to its full potential. Risks include totally messing up your card by doing the mod incorrectly or sloppily, and a very small chance of causing EM interference to other devices such as cell phones, radio, and the like.

Check the article and the threads. Some people swear by this mod, while others like myself notice very little difference. Still, any noticable difference is something special when it comes to image quality, wouldn't you agree?

Note... digital as opposed to analog cable between monitor and a graphics card that supports it pretty much renders this mod useless.

AMD:

4x with 128Mb AGP aperture and fastwries enabled are the bios settings I'm using. 2x reduces performance very slightly, but might just make it up by a higher overclock. I don't know, I'll have to try it out that way and get back to you. Right now though I just got a bunch of new and old detonator drivers. I'm going to patch these with softquadro and turn my GF2 Ti into a Quadro2 Pro. It'll take a while to test all of these drivers out and to test the Quadro-patched versions of these drivers. I'm also modifying my blorb by putting a silver base on it. All this stuff will take me at least a week to sort out and finish, given that I have so little free time (except the time I spend at work posting in these forums and staring out the window at the AMD plant across the street).

hey dude, i got XP PRO for free is bad ass i was talking to a man in walmart about two weeks ago he toll me he had done lan partys at his home and that it was if i wanted to go to one. so i went to his house and he has a copy of xp pro w/o the spyware w/ just xp on it its clean he install it on my computer and in someone elses computer i love it his going to make me a copy? b/c im going to format AGAIN i dont like the partition part also we just upgrade my os and i want to install the full version. i gess good luck to me. dude i wanna move back to austin. i love FRY's electronics is the ****. they got it all. i'll probably visit in about 4 to 6 month.oh one more thing is quadro 2 better than g2 ti will u get better scores? if so i like to turn mine fu!@ it i dont think im scared.

Yeah, Fry's is so the shizzznet! Gonna try to get a lan party at my house soon. Got routers for up to 8 people, should be pretty cool. So many things about Austin make it fun though. I know someone who'll hook me up with a new thoroughbred 2 weeks before the official release. Went to 6th St last night, saw some old friends...

Quadro only requires patching and changing a driver. It was pretty easy. It improves OpenGL performance a lot, but didn't make a difference in 3d games. My 3dmark score went up a bit, but I also overclocked the card a little extra, and changed to 22.40 drivers. I think I did it the hard way though. The new version of NVMax has an option to turn on advanced geforce instructions, which is essentially making the card a Quadro. I just did it because it's cool have a $650+ professional graphics card. My roomate does graphic design, and has all kindsa professional art programs. Quadro conversion has made him very happy.

You'll need Rivatuner, and some detonators. And NVmax helps, since it has a setting to turn "advanced geforce instructions" on, so that you can be sure the card's working in Quadro mode. GLxcess is good for benchmarking. Most of these progs are available at www.guru3d.com

I pried out the old base and replaced it with a lapped silver coin. Do a search for "blorb" and "silver" to find a thread or two about it.
