View Full Version : Celeron 1.0 or 1.1 Chip??
I am picking up a new Celeron Chip soon based upon the Coppermine Core which my board will support. Which chip is my best buy 1.0ghz is $132 Canadian and the 1.1ghz is $155 Canadian. Which chip is going to be better for overclocking??
I don't know what the currency rate is, but I just ordered a 1.1 Tually for $90 from www.newegg.com ...The overclocks in the database look pretty good for this chip, I think...
unfourtunely my old board will not support tully only coppermine

Get the 900 then maybe?? It is cD0 stepping only (the best one for OC'ing CuMines) and should be able to do 1200MHz (9x133) as long as you have a decent heatsink, 133MHz bus capable board 9with dividers) and voltage adjustments.
The 1.0 you'd be lucky to get 1333MHz (10x133) CuMines seem to need real luck or extreme cooling to get this high.

I would say to buy the 1.0 as you would have a better chance of making 133 fsb so that you can keep the pci/agp bus speeds in spec or close to spec (if you can get higher than 133 fsb).
I'd take the 1 Gig.
With proper airflow and cooling they get to 1.3 easily and you can go beyond more.

Hi blinky ;) ...Now I got a pretty 1.0 Ghz Celeron based on the coppermine core after have had an 800 one clocked @ 1120 which in the last time was clocked @1200 but not full stable.
So...I m running my "new" 1.0 celeron @ 1240 mhz without any problem with a little core voltage increase of 0.1 points.
This cpu surelly can hit the nice speed of 1.3 Ghz but with some problems...Personally have tried to push mine at this frequency and the result was that my usb ports every time stopped working after 5 minutes after the system boot. The issue is the too hot temperature and the limit of the coppermine architecture which with some problems can rich the ~1.3 Ghz frequency.
As cooling system am using a thermalrigh sk6 but before the next summer I want to pass to a water cooling system and only then I will try if this nice cpu could be stable at this frequency.
Bye blinky :burn:
