Ok, I'm ready to unlock it, but I just have one question, do I connect all the bridges strait across from each other? Or do I only connect the first so many. My guess is all of them. The only reason I am asking is because that toms hardeware guide video on unlocking the XP/MP, it looked like he just connected the first two pins. I assumed that maybe he just showed everyone how to do the first one, and that they would know to do the rest the same way. Let me know, thanks!

Yes you connect all 5.

They should look like this;

.....if you do a good job. You really need to go here (http://www.overclockers.com/topiclist/index04.asp#BEGINNER GUIDES) & read as much as you can. This (http://www.overclockers.com/topiclist/index13.asp#CPU REVIEWS AND TIPS) wouldnt hurt either but THIS SITE (http://www.overclockers.com/) has everything if you need.

I tried to unlock mine, have an XP1700+, everything is really clean, but I can't get my multiplier about 11X. Not sure if I want to try it again...

Ok, cool! All 5, now what do you all suggest I use to fill the pits? Should I just use super glue like in the toms hardeware video? Or is there something easier to work with? Also, after I fill in the pits, could I possible use a 0.5 pencil like that one person here did? I'm not sure if it will work, I know he got it to work. Although he didn't fill in the pits. I want to make sure I don't ground it.

no the pencil trick doesn't work with the XP unfortunately... As for techniques, there seems to be numerous ways.... do a lil seach in the forum search engine and you'll come across a bunch... heres just one technique: http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/AMD/AthlonXPUnlock/

I've got an Athlon XP 1800+, unlocked, all the multipliers work. Took me a couple of tries to do it successfully but this is what I did:

Took some krazy glue and filled in the pits, having them previously masked using tape. Once the glue dries, I make sure the glue is flat with the top of the cpu. Now to join the bridges, I got a chemtronics conductive silver tracing pen, unscrewed the top, and used a needle to apply it. Before you put on the silver ink, make sure that the bridge you want to join is properly isolated from the others. Do that for all 5 bridges.

All you need is patience, and you alos need prescision. Those darn bridges are very very small!! I'm gonna go pick up a rear windshield defogger repair kit, because I can't seem to find any other conductive paint anywhere! I'll post results on my attempts with my XP-1700. If all goes well I'll try my 1800.

I'll be using:
Scotch tape
Crazy Glue
Carpenter knife to level the glue
More scotch tape
conductive substance,
and,,,,
MAGNIFYING GLASS so I don't short anything.

There about $21. Comes out to around $25 with taxes. Works great though. My multiplier is completely unlocked. If I remember correctly, the store is somewhere in between Computer Boulevard and Computer Avenue on St. James.

He did, I know he did, besides, I didn't ask if the pencil trick worked, I asked if I should try it. That one dude did get it to work, he said so, I mean, come on, why would anyone post that stuff if it weren't true?
