Hi
I have read through alot of the PSU threads and the sticky guides and have tried to make some sense of what i want to know but it is still a little confusing to me:bang head, anyway what I would like to know is , I want to change my PSU beacuse it is too loud and the sound is getting on my nerves. It a 350W unit which i guess is a the low end of things. I want to replace it wit a new one perhaps slighly higher wattage but nothing too extreme I do not overclock and only have one GPU and none of that i likely to change in a hurry all i am concerned about is making the machine quiet.
Do You have to buy a certain PSU depending on motherboard and Gpu brand and is there anything else i should take into consideration. I have been tols to go for a modular unit because it is a lot tidier with less cables but that is where my knowledge ends.
Any help would be greatly received
Thanks

i would agree with Jolly-Swagman with corsair. I have a 750w my self and it is the quietest part of my computer.

arsenewenger,

There should not be any compatibility problems with a good ATX2 compliant power supply. Depending on availability to you, any of the Corsairs, Seasonic, late models Antecs and others are really quiet, near dead silent if you aren't running them too hard.

The Corsair HX520 modulars are imperceptable for noise, I run two of them in separate units and the modulars are tidy if you are not running dual video cards SLI.

If you are a silence freak like me :D I suggest new silence star Nexus Value 430 (http://www.silentpcreview.com/Nexus_Value_430) or old silence star Enermax Pro82+/Modu82+ 425 (http://www.silentpcreview.com/Enermax_Modu82_625W).
