I'm wondering, my Northwood 2.2 O/C'ed @ 2.68 runs rock solid at 33c with heavy loads aircooled using swiftech 80mm Helicoid Heatsink.. Would it worth it to go watercooling? ... I'm almost getting one, will I see a noticable drop in my temps? .. I'm aiming to shoot for 3Ghz tho.. Suggestions?

When i water cooled i always used a peltier with my waterblock and i was able to obtain temps in the negative C 's. My peltiers are dead right now and haven't had time to buy new ones. Anyways with those really temps i was able to push FSB speeds much higher and maybe you'll have the same luck!

3GHz? doubtful with just water-cooling. I've only seen them speeds reached via LN2. But hey, prove me wrong :D

Good luck on the OC! :burn:

What I know for sure is that I'm dumping my RIMMs once Gigabyte unleash its newest 8IRXP in Canada. I'm going DDR PC2700 and wondering if watercooling will help much.. I'm pretty sure I can hit 3Ghz, or at least pretty much close to it ... I HOPE! hehe .. From what I heard, and did a bit research on the web, operational temps should be anything above 5c!! will watercooling really bring cpu/mobo chipest to subzero levels? .. I might just go right ahead and get the koolance ready-to-go case and give it a shot... Thanks for the help guys :)

Koolance will give you anything BUT sub/near-zero temps. Perhaps somewhere in the up 20c range for load, maybe low 30c. To get sub/near-zero temps... only way that I know is to go for something like Vapochill (http://www.Vapochill.com). Either that or some other form of extreme cooling like pelt's. Who know's... you may be able to hit 3GHz on water, i'm not into Intel so I wouldn't know thier overclockability ;) :D

Good luck!

his best beat is to get a plet/bong setup...
he could get those 220watt ones if he really wants 3ghz ;)
i dunno what vid card he has, but geez, he'd blow me away in 3dmark ;)

LOL....
is say so... my tbird wouldnt stand a chance.... but im gonna get a 1900+ soon, and i may go plet, so ill have a chance at getting close to you, but i highly doubt id hit 11k
right now im just under 8500.. thats only at 1500mhz, so its low cuz of that, the card is oced high tho... i got it to run 3dmark at 277/595... so thats great ;)

TC says that most of the northwoods won't do higher than 3.0. Macci had a northwood do 2.95 with air so I don't know if water is worth the 300mhz gain. go vapo is you really "need" 3.0ghz.

that is pretty sweet. that chip may go higher but the 122fsb seems to be a sticking point for a lot of review I have seen. I am not sure why but 122 is a wall. see if you can't get the fsb up to 133. I think that the 845 chipset won't kick in the 1/4 until 133 or something weird. I want to get a northwood but I am going to wait a little longer.
