Got rid of 7 degrees celcius just by changing my case. I recently bought an Antec case (sx1030-B). After installing everything, the first thing i did was test out the temperature of the case and the processor. At idle i got a readout of 38c and after 20mins of Prime95 i got to 40-41c, thats with a 5000rpm fan. I have 2 fans in the front and 2 in the back. I think this is important because some complain about having high temperatures, well the first thing to check for is, do you have a good case? I had an el cheapo kinda case, didnt have good airflow, which the Antec has plenty. My temps went as high as 48c with the other case, which is not bad but isnt good either. Overall i think this is a good case and not as expensive as the Lian-Li cases, which are around 279$ Canadian, this one i bought for 195$ shipping and taxes included.
As you seen in my other post, I have a XP 1800+ @ 1.72GHz. I have a Antec SX1035B with 1 intake, 1 exhaust (2 if you count PSU). It's folding right now and at a peak temperature of 41c, that's with the sides on and ambient at 32c. Usuing CoolerMaster HHC-001 Heat Pipe for HSF w/ASII. Waiting for water-cooled setup :|
-Edit- oh.. lol.. and I got the case for $120 w/tax.

This is the demostration of how much important is the Case airflow!
even the best HS will give poor cooling results if the air that the fan sucks from the case is HOT, coz heated by the other peripherals, and in conclusion, this is the way to go!
P.S. many comps -Exi|e- for your results ;)

It does! The inside of my other case had a temp readout of 35c sometimes. This one as you can see was at 24c, thats only 2-3c above ambient. Now i can enjoy the sound of a 5000rpm fan instead of that annoying high pitch sound of my Delta:D
P.S. Thank you!
Yes thats why I always tell people to include 300cfm+ of airflow in their case to have no shortage of airflow.
Man good job.
