...but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. My PSU has a second 4-pin 12v (CPU) connector, are there MoBo's out there that can use it? If not, what is it for?

Edit: Of course, right after I post, I find the answer. Apparently some boards have an 8-pin connector.

You will find the 8-pin design referred to as EPS12, which is more of a motherboard specification than the plug, but nonetheless that's what you'll see. It's also often called 4+4. If I am correct, the EPS12 used to be exclusively for server boards. About four years three or four years ago it started appearing on consumer-grade motherboards and PSUs.

Yep, about right after I got my SLI-DR they started showing up. Now we've got our first consumer mothergrade that takes two 8 pins. Thankfully there IS at least one power supply I know of that supports this: Corsair 1000HX, but I'm sure there's more.

Yup, it's got 2 of those, too.

I read the title to this thread and thought to myself:

"However dumb he think's his question is, I bet you I've seen dumber."

Sure enough... :)

It's true! His question doesn't even rank up in the top 9,000 of dumb questions.
