No need to join. Just when it asks you for your team number type in 32.

just put in 32 where it asks for team# use the same name on both clients. youll probably want to run the standard client on those, most people will tell you its not worth the power consumption and it would be a good idea to upgrade.
make sure to read the stickies.
they are running 24/7 anyways...

Now this computer has 512 of ram, around 2tb of hd (its my file server),a 2.8 p4 cpu, and a built in video card... Should i get a cheap video card and it will improve its performance using folding home?

Yes to the Video card . Depending on your budget an 8800gt or gs would be great.
And Welcome to T32!!

OP, Does your P4 use AGP or PCIe?

even better :) regular PCI :( but i really dont want to spend alot of money on a video card. Also does any video card work? like does it matter if it is ATI or NVIDIA... Ima be using linux any kind of driver conflicts?

Something like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187057) is PCI and it can handle CUDA. I don't know how decent that price is but a 9400 is probably the most powerful you can get in PCI, it should be capable enough to run the folding client.

You need an R600/nVidia 8xxx or better series video cards for GPU folding. Probably not worth it for you. Oops, missed the *nix part.

CUDA is? and does ram matters for folding home? ya either the 9400 GT or the 8400 GS seem to be the more powerfull ones with a pci standard

CUDA is a language that only the specs that I stated can utilize it. That's from the nVidia side and the drivers can be gotten there, I don't know ATI

your confusing him with all your strange words.
and almost any ati gfx card better than hd2600 or x1900xt(i think) can fold, and any nvidia gfx card 8 series and up.
im surprised you dont have atleast an agp slot on that p4.
more ram would definately help folding on the cpu.

hehe my p4 suxs it does like 13% a day... :) my ps3 instead does like 1 work per 6h... also i tried in a windows computer and i got an error, like it will not connect.. ill post it in a few
You need to add the fah client to your firewall exception table, perhaps?

Hit me again with that question please?
So your connecting to your PC running Deb via SSH, and you want to know the status of your folding?

u know when u run the command it tells u like teh status of like the % completed... if i close that ssh session and connect back how can i go back to that screen?
Jim Morbid

well if you navigate to the folder where the folding client is run from there should be two log files. I think one of them is status.txt - if you cat that it will give you the % complete.

Um... no. The GPU1 client could fold on those cards. GPU2 does not. You need a 3xxx or better to fold with ATI.
Fold on and thank you for joining the cause.
