This is me doing the telluride mission. 9500FT ASL. Learjet 45. Approach speed is 140kts. I kinda bunged the landing. I thought the plane was CRJ length for a second and floated it like 5ft off the run way :bang head:screwy::screwy::screwy:.
Also ended up left of center, came in low, and coulda lined up better. I also brought the nose down a little harder than I should have.
The choppiness every few seconds is because I used the free version of Fraps and its 30 second clips only so I had to keep re-starting the recorder.
I'd appreciate thoughts and input, sarcasm, "You couldn't land a bee"... etc...

I've wanted to get back into Flight simulators for a while now, just can't bring myself around to it.
From past experiences, I know how hard simulators are, you you really didn't do that bad.........apart from being off to the left and taking out some terminals :)

Nobody else wants to comment on my visual approach?

It was a valiant effort. I know its much harder to make a good landing at this altitude. I want to try this myself :)
nice. I usually flare to early too, and nose down straight into the runway....

You do know you can delete your own posts right? :)
EDIT: "NOVEMBER RAIN"?!?! Are you serious?!?!
Hahahahahahahaha! :)
Landing was alright. Just came in a bit fast. I'm still HORRIBLE at FSX... though I haven't played much.
What mods are you using?

ya man. COLD november rain. Cuzz it's cold- in the mountains- with snow- 9,500ft ASL :santa:
No mods. Stock lear 45. Coming in fast because the stall speed at that altitude with full flaps/gear down is about 120 kts- the speed where the sinkrate becomes unsafe is 130- so I had to approach at 140.
I'm going to try to do it now, properly, and repost. I did it perfect last night- with no FRAPS, of course...

Holy crap, this is some funny stuff, my eyes are tearing up.

The higher the elevation, the faster the landing speed is required. I couldn't tell from the video but at what point were the engines at idle?

Theocnoob have you tried it w/o using ILS? Tried it a couple of times this morning, full realism no ILS real-time weather (snow 12 kts tailwind). Out of 4 decent attempts made one survivable landing. :bang head

I'm 3 points above idle thrust N1 all the way down. I only go idle when I touch down. Because of the really shallow approach the speed falls off too fast if there isn't a tiny bit of thrust. I can't manage it..

that WAS without ILS (it was there but the whole thing was manual), 8/10 realism/all weather I have no idea but it felt pretty much dead calm...

Ah, just saying cause noticed you APP hold was enabled which is what you use with ILS landings.
I might have to start my descents a little earlier, because I've been having problems keeping the speed to around 140-150kts. Tricky little airport to set down in.

Here I am in aCRJ700 in St Marteen.. another not so good one... all manual.

And here's an engine failure and emergency descent and landing in a Cessna172. A couple of really bad patches of air on the way down but made a good landing and nobody died.
This is in the "Somethingorother Outing" mission. Your engine fails. Interestingly, also, in the Amsterdam/London 737 run a guy has a heart attack just as you're getting out over the English Channel... Funny stuff... Not for the guy. But he's just a sim... but yes back to the engine failure here it is. I think I did an actually good job on this one especially considering that they beat your little plane up on the way down a fair bit.

Looks like you could have use one of THESE (http://brsparachutes.com/default.aspx) on the 172.

Perhaps- but I think that was a damn good no engine landing... descent was insanely steep and still made a perfect touchdown. I don't think they fault you for being past the numbers when you're a hair from death.
As per those parachutes they should be required equipment on all aircraft small enough to hold structure under a chute. I agree with you there.
