Hi all,

Guys I need your help in removing the stock HSF from my 8500 graphics card. I have a crystal orb sitting in front of me. How do I remove the orignal HSF from the GPU without damaging the processor. I have also bought some tin coated copper ramsinks for my 3.3ns DDR. It will luck a sweet card if I ever get it done.
Please help !!!

Put it in a zip lock bag and seal it and put in the freezer for about 20min than pull off.The cold makes the glue brital and it can be pulled off

Or you can try to soften the glue up with heat. Either by looping a vid benchmark for about half an hour then attempt to remove it as soon as you shut down, or use a hairdryer on it.

THey have 3.6ns RAM
DO NOT use a hairdryer on it as you will most probably overheat and damage your card.
Use the freezer method and put a credit card over the PCB as to protect it.
Good LUCK!

Using eyeglass flathead screwdriver to slowly pry around the base of the heatsink will get it off very easily, this is how I got the heatsink off my Radeon 7500 to put on the Crystal Orb.

It is the easiest method, personally I would skip on the freezer method.

Just do not put the flathead srewdriver to far under the side of the heatsink. Anything else that is roughly the same size and made of plastic wil work fine as long as it can fit along the edge of the heatsink and slowly pry upwards going around the entire heasink 2 to 3 times. It took me not even 5 minutes and it was very easy.
