I upgraded a PIII for a PIV and I had to change also the memory and the ATX box but I'll have to change the Video Card (Voodoo 3000) because the AGP slot for the Intel D850GB is only for 4X AGP cards. I don't want to change the Voodoo (I have another computer with a GeFOrce 2 Pro) and I would like to know if there is any motherboard for PIV which allows to install a Voodoo 3000. Any help?
you should be fine. AGP 4x slots are backwards compatible with AGP1x/2x slots and cards. Watch out for AGP Pro slots- those are the ones you may have trouble with.

But the Voodoo 3000 does not match with the AGP port, phisically. :(
I know what you mean. All AGP 4x cards have three notches on the connector. Previous cards had two notches.
What Intel did is add a tiny spacer in the AGP slot so the older AGP cards can't fit (Imagine that, Intel making it harder to upgrade  ).
As far as I can tell the only way you'll use that Voodoo 3 on a P4 system is with a mobo that uses an alternative chipset (Like Sis or Via)
yah, univox(cool name dude!) has it.
Your board has an AGP pro slot after all- you need a board with a plain AGP2x/4x slot instead.
Or just upgrade that old voodoo card to something that will fit in a Pro slot; I believe that even the cheap Geforce MX400s will fit in there.

Well, that's just crappy!
actually it is to protect you from card manufacturers playing fast and loose with the AGP spec- remember how much trouble the original Geforce256 caused folks by drawing like twice the power it was supposed to?
The new AGP pro spec is designed to deliver specific voltages at a range of amps, so newer, more powerful cards can work as well as not-so-powerful cards in the same slot without frying anything.

Well, as much as it stinks, I think you're stuck.... I'd say pick up a cheap GF2MX200 card.

Thanks for all.
I'll have to buy another video card and retire my old Voodoo 3000, snifff. I'll miss it, I loved Glide for games.

well i wouldnt get a 200 cause they just plain suck but get a 400 instead.
Like I said before, if you really want to hold on to that V3 and your willing to part with your mother board get a board based on the Via P4X266/A or SiS 645 chipset.
Of course a better solution if you have the money is to get a new video card and pick up a Voodoo 2 (two would be even better, gotta love SLI :D ) somewhere used to go along with it.
