Newbie Alert!!!!!!

I am really new to water cooling and i am quite reluctant. I am not sure how the whole system works. I would like somebody explain to me what things i need and i need to find a good guide to building one. My parents can't see the need to get lower temps but i guess that is a secret held within the "geek" community. I will just tell them it is a constructive project that will fuel me to be more creative. Anyway, I found a good pump....i think, for kinda cheap. I have about 100 bucks to spend (+/-). It is the i think Rio 3100. It is 46.99$ and it does 900gph. I think this is a good deal but i'm not sure. Its here if anyone wants to buy it. http://www.fishsupply.com/cgi-bin/common/art_viewer.cgi?item_no=SPWTI

I need a good water cooling guide so i don't need to buy a new case for better air cooling. I would think that it is a waste of time to spend more money on air cooling when there are so many advantages of a colder system through water cooling. What things do i need? All i want is to buy or make a good water block, a really good pump, and a quality, home meade resivoir.

First read about it alot. You will need a good water block, a good radiator, good pump. and tubing/hose and a good hold down and fans for the radiator and latly ASII. You'll want to ask alot of ?`s to see whats the best block for you. A good place to start looking is www.dangerden.com & www.2coolcomputer.com Hope this helps. Wlecome to the world of watercooling. Oh yea I almost forgot you need to choose if you want an inline pump or one you submerge.

900 gph is way overkill. A pump should be in the 150-500 gph range. It is good with a strong pump to restrict the flow in a tube because you can actually get lower temps by finding an equilibrium with the radiator dissipating heat and the waterblock absrobing heat.

Read a lot on here and on the main page about water cooling.

Eheim pumps are extremely good, and Danners aren't bad either. Look at www.swiftnets.com and www.overclockwatercool.com also for cooling parts.

Good luck in your dive into water cooling.
