View Full Version : My OCZ 2700,is it Micron?
Hi all my OCZ 2700 that I am not happy with, well I was told by Component Authority this is were I got it,they told me that my High performance 2700 was actually Micron Technology memory,he said it is the BEST memory available other than the 3000.
I can also add that I can see a bit of writing under the heat shredder and it looks like it says Micron,is this a good thing or not so good:)
I can get FSB up to 150 but it won't handle a burn from Sandra but it runs good @ 146..
Any sugestions other than unlocking the CPU?
Thanks
They use Hynix chips if I'm not mistaken.
OCZ seems to be crap by the majority of those that have used it here in the forums. If they sent you a stick with Micron chips, it's news to me. OCZ is shady at best to me anyway.
You're definately going to need to unlock the multiplier to run at high bus speeds though. Raise the bus, lower the multiplier...that's how it's done.
Good luck!

Do yourself a favor and RMA that sucker and get some real Ram. I have owned the OCZ PC3000 before and it was absolute crap as well. As far as I knew, OCZ did NOT use Micron chips, but if they are now, that's a little improvement. I had the same problem you are having, my PC3000 wouldn't go over 145 stably at CL2. I had to raise it to CL2.5 to even hit speeds close to what it was supposedly 'rated' at. I now use Kingmax 5ns PC2700 and I can say that it ROCKS (just look at my sig). It is the only ram with 5ns chips, as OCZ is just overclocked 7.5ns chips. I would definately RMA your OCZ and go with Kingmax. If your RMA period has run out, do what I did and stick it up on Ebay. Good Luck.

If there's a stylized "MT" on the chips, they are probably made by Micron. Can't say for certain without seeing them.
