Hello
I have a MSI 694T PRO mobo and a watercooled cD0 Celeron2 900.
I was able to boot to 131 FSB with -DEFAULT- voltage, ROCK STABLE. Ran prime for hours. Now the thing is that the damn mobo has some sort of FSB block so I can't go higher than 131 FSB. If I reached 1185 MHz with default voltage.... CONSIDER HOW HIGH I COULD GO!!! This block is driving me crazy so please if you know of a way to bypass it please help me!!!!
thanks!
you probly have to do a volt mod to the board...but i have no idea how on that board....im sure someone will

Oh my god this is so sad... All this with default voltage... god damn MSI... damn you to hell!!!

What are you running as stress stress program to determine it is stable?
Try the lastest bios update to get more options the SoftMenu or User Define menu etc.

Instead of spending time and money trying to modify a crappy mobo, why not just get a good overclockable mobo. Otherwise, you could always do the VID pin wire wrap trick for more voltage.

I DO NOT NEED MORE VOLTAGE! I NEED MORE FSB SPEED!!! THE MOTHERBOARD WONT LET ME GET PAST 131 ITS AN BUILT IN BLOCK.
Read the post!!!!
I ran prime for hours. Is that stable enough for you? I already wrote that, but it looks like you didn't even read the post.
P.S.: Yes, I have the latest BIOS... It's the same.
calm down friend i can barely hear myself from you...

I know how frustrating it is... that Celery definitely has potential, and to be blocked by MSI both sucks and blows (though I don't know how that's possible). But Batboy's a senior around here... he knows his stuff... I think it was an honest mistake on his part, cause usually the problem is voltage, not a motherboard limit on the FSB speed. Nevertheless, he is right, I think you need a new mobo. Those Sandra Benchies are sweet, you're giving my P4 a run for it's money!
Whats up with the crazy attitude dude?
Well I guess your motherboard isn't very overclockable friendly, batboy has the word..
Go get a better motherboard than just wasting time and ideas which will include money to try to fix a useless mobo.

Why don't you give a try on increasing the voltage? A little more voltage applied may help.
Buddy, maybe you need to explain the situation a little better. Are you saying that the settings for the FSB only go up to 131 FSB and no more? Or are you saying the most it'll overclock at default voltage is 131 FSB and there are higher settings that don't seem to work? If you have a max setting of only 131 FSB on that mobo, then you're screwed. If you cannot manually adjust the voltage and it just won't overclock any higher than 131 FSB, then you probably need more voltage. If so, then you'll need to do a voltage mod of some sort if you use that mobo. Yes, it could seem like you hit a brick wall if that's the situation. Regardless, you spent lots of cash on a water cooling system, why not get a good mobo too? That's my point.
I think he is talkin about some kind of safety lock ??
If so..why don't u try MSI support site if there is such a thing on your mobo?If there is noone on this site with that kind of mobo its the best way to do..but i've never heard of such thing lock for FSB???

First of all I'm very sorry for my attitude yesterday. I was in a very bad mood - but that no excuse. Please don't take anything personally because I didn't mean to offend anyone.
Now let me explain it a little better.
The situation is:
This motherboard has some sort of a FSB lock. If I look at the manual, here is what it says:
- 66 FSB CPUs can be OCed from 67MHz to 97 MHz
- 100 FSB CPUs can be OCed from 101 MHz to 131 MHz
- 133 FSB CPUs can be OCed from 134 MHz to 160 MHz
I must say this is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard and it really ****es me off.
Since I can go to max. FSB possible (=131) with default voltage, I have good reasons to believe I could go higher.
Is there a way to make a mobo believe that a 100 FSB cpu is actually a 133 FSB cpu?
Damn dude....That sucks!
I've never heard of that before....
I believe there is a way to trick the mobo into thinking your CPU has a higher default FSB than standard by removing a pin on the CPU.
Can't remember which one though....Mabye someone else knows?

none taken;)
Damn it its really weird...there must b some way that u unlcok that damn FSB if it says in manual that it can go up to 160MHz i don't c the reason why it would't?
Did u try MSI site for some FAQ or support forums or somethin else??(just in case)

Yeah I asked about it on the MSI forums, I checked out the FAQs (nothing there) and I've written to the MSI tech support. We'll see what happens... It's just so stupid - the board is perfectly capable of higher FSBs...
Darn you must be out of luck, sorry :(
There should be some kind of lock like they said but it maybe a little risky probably have to try your bios some how.

Oh well, 100 FSB CPUs can be OCed from 101MHz to 131MHz. That's what they say. Did you really try anything above 131MHz with applying a little bit more voltage? Try it first if you did not.
Hey, we all have bad days sometimes, no problem. Now that you've explained it better, I think we all finally understand what you're up against. I've never played with that particular mobo, so I never knew about that safety range thing. I'm like everyone else, thinking there probably is a fix or mod or someway around the situation, but right now I'm at a total loss as to what the solution might be. Fluid might be thinking of the older slot one CPUs where you could cover one contact to fool the mobo into thinking it had a default of 100 FSB instead of 66 FSB. Good luck. You could always save up and get a good Abit mobo and sell that one.

nuciles: Do I look like a clown to you?! Dont you think I'd go higher if I could?
Here are the options in my bios (for FSB settings)
- Auto
- 101
...
- 131
nuciles now please tell me how is more voltage going to help settings higher than 131 to magically appear?
Look this basically really sucks and the reasonable solution would be to get a new mobo. Well unfortunately I can't do that because there are reasons for which I don't have the time to explain.
Since we've determined that tricking the mobo can only be done by removing a pin... this is not an option for me because it's too tricky and I don't have the money to buy a new CPU if sth goes wrong. Too bad you can't trick a mobo by doing a wire mod :)
What about software overclockers like softfsb? Maybe I could go higher with that... Sounds lame but hey it's an option :) The problem is that softfsb is too old for my mobo and I don't know of any programs that would allow you to OC. Does anyone here know an alternative to the softfsb?

Hmm, longshot but it may work. If you're using an AGP video card, try using a PCI video card. My current motherboard doesn't allow me to overclock unless I use a PCI card. I'm thinking it had to do with the lack of good AGP settings support
SoftFSB was meant for old motherboards and probably not compliant with yours and it wasn't a great programmer either your bios will overclock more than the proggy.

OK I've found out that there are some more mobos that have this block and the only way to bypass it is to solder a resistor to it which I have no desire to do. I am stuck at 131 FSB and that's it :(
I was going to get an Abit VH6-T but it was unavailable... for a moderate period of time. Since I needed a mobo desperately I bought this one and no one ever mentioned this damn block.
The stupid MSI should stick a big "Overclock crippled board inside" label right next to the "tualatin ready" label. Damn *******s.
I see the only solution in selling my board. I need to clear a few things first and if I manage to do it I'll get rid of this useless thing.
LOL what would happen if I flashed my board with another bios like abit's vh6t that uses the same chipset?:) Nothing good I think :)

Yeah, generally Flashing BIOS' with one from another brand is a no-no... chipset the same or not. You'd have a better chance with the resistor. The VH6-II is a good board, Pinky has one. That really does suck. 131MHz FSB is a nice overclock -BUT- it's really crappy you can't hit more than that.

Well I never had much luck with CPUs and now I've finnaly found one that has the potential... from 100FSB to 131 with default voltage and it heats a lot less than my old celeron 700. It has great potential and I bet I could hit 150 FSB with it. With vid mod if I had to. But the damn board is holding me back...
Even though changing the mobo has some unpleasant circumstances for me, my desire to get rid of this piece of junk grows day by day. When I see people hitting 160 FSB with Gigabyte's GA60-XET.... argh.
MSI - A link to the future my ass.
